DAY 1
DHANTERAS- It marks the birth of God Dhanwantri. This day people buy gold/ silver/ utensils
for their homes. This day is the most profitable for prosperous for business.
DAY 2 CHHOTI DIWALI/ ROOP CHAUDAS/ NARAK
CHATURDASHI - A very important day of the festival. Lord Krishna killed the
demon Narakasura. In South India, it is the most celebrated day. People light
14 diyas / deepaks in their homes.
DAY 3 DEEPAVALI/ DIWALI- This day is the most
important in North India.It is the first day of the new year according to the
Hindu calendar. Everyone prays Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi for prosperity
and good luck. Beautiful rangolis are painted in every house. Diyas lighten
every home and make each house beautiful with their beautiful flame. Friends and family gather to meet each other
and exchange GIFTS.
DAY 4
GOVERDHAN POOJA- This day is celebrated in different ways in different parts of
India. On this day, Lord Krishna defeated Indra. In some parts husbands give
special gifts to their wives and in some parts it is the DIWALI MILAN , where
people go to meet each other to give their wishes and take blessings. At some places a feast called Anookoot is
also prepared.
DAY 5 BHAI
DOOJ- A very important day for brothers
and sisters to express their love and affection.
The most
wonderful festival where in the whole
country is becomes a spectacle of lights and colours.
This Diwali
let’s pray not only for wealth but health too……. This pandemic ends as soon as
possible and situation becomes normal.
